Forum Title: Easy Rust Removal Process
Rust is one of the most stubborn stains on any type of fabric. The reason behind this is because the stain has a different kind of substance structure. Regular stain removal processes will not do. In fact, it actually sets the stain rather than remove it. When it comes to rust removal, knowledge comes a long way. It is only through the processes in this article will you be able to successfully remove the rust stain. There are four kinds of rust removal processes you can try and all of them are quite easy to do. But before we begin, I like to note that you should never apply bleach or any type of detergent that has bleach in it on the affected area. Bleach is one of the things that react with rust. It can intensify the stain rather than remove it. No matter how long you soak your garment in bleach, it will not do anything. Also, if the rust is fresh, it is better to remove it manually. This will save you headaches as you finish the rust removal process. Commercial Product Process The first process will entail using a commercial rust removal product. These are available in the market and are designed to specifically tackle rust. However, this may not be a worthy investment if you are not faced with rust stains on a regular basis. It may be better to just create a homemade treatment. But if you clean garments with rust stains, then having this at home is a must. Using commercial rust removal products is easy. All you need to do is read the instructions and apply it as indicated. Lemon Juice and Salt Process The next process involves using lemon juice to soften the stain. First, you need to squeeze some lemon onto the stain until it is fully absorbed. After that, you can sprinkle some salt in the affected area. Then, you have to leave the garment for 24 hours. You also have to keep on checking on the garment to see if it is kept damp. Keep squeezing some lemon to keep the area damped and soaked. After 24 hours, rinse the area with cold water. Repeat the process if the stain still did not come off. This is a cheap process because you can easily get lemon and salt. However, I do not recommend this for people who do not have the time. If you go to your office, you may not have the time to constantly check in your garment. This is a suggested rust removal process for people who have time. Dishwashing Soap Process There is also the dishwashing soap process. The trick is to mix dishwashing soap with water. Make sure that the area is soaked and wait for five minutes. This will loosen the rust stain. After 5 minutes, get a cloth and blot the area. Do not rub. It will damage your garment. Just blot it and rinse it with cold water. Simply repeat the process if it did not work. Electrolytic Rust Removal This process is a bit tricky but actually works like magic. First put the rusted metal into a container of water. You will also need a power source, usually a small battery would do. You will be literally shocking the metal, allowing the non-corroded surface to flake off the rust. I highly advice you study this first before attempting it though as it can be quite tricky. There you have it, these rust removal tips mentioned above should come in handy just in case you are faced with rust on your favorite metal surface. Feel free to try all of them since one method maybe best for a certain type of metal and rust.
